About Sexplained® Ltd and Knox Publishing

Sexplained Ltd was formed in September 1999 by Helen Knox.

The company offers British accredited training Units, validated by the UK’s largest exam board – AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance) – taught by Nurse trainers with a minimum of 15 years of ‘hands on’ clinical experience (often considerably more).

These assist workforce development in contraception (family planning), STIs/sexual health, HIV-AIDS and associated subjects. Each Unit offers a recognised British Level 3 Award (A-Level / NVQ 3 equiv) and CPD to Level 6 and can be used for APEL on to academic courses anywhere in the world.

With local support, Sexplained Training and The Sexplained Challenge, fit with all 16 UNAIDS Benchmarks for Effective Programmes; with 1-7 of the Millennium Development Goals and 2.1 and 2.2 of DFID’s Framework for Results.

Knox Publishing was formed in August 1995 with the publication of Helen’s first book, Sexplained… The Uncensored Guide to Sexual Health.

This was followed by the publication of Sexplained 2… For Young People in April 1999 and an update and considerable extension to the first title in February 2013, called Sexplained One – Sex & Your Health. and in 2014, Sexplained Two – For Changing Times

Sexplained Training first piloted in 2001/2 and The Sexplained Challenge, in 2004.

Helen started writing The Sexplained Column, for Better Health Magazine, Barbados, in June 2001 –  which continues, to this day.
